Steidel Contemporary’s will be involved in Cadillac’s Emerging Artist section, VIP artist talks, and a collaboration with leading Chicago-based design firm, Vincere

Navy Pier, Chicago, November 1st, 2018 - Steidel Contemporary, of London and Palm Beach, will be featured at the upcoming SOFA Chicago fair, celebrating its 25th year anniversary. With an eclectic showcase, Steidel Contemporary’s exhibition will be guided by the central theme of organic complexity through form, texture and aesthetic appearance. The multidisciplinary exhibition will incorporate a wide range of materials including ceramics, wood, bronze, glass, and silk; with notable collections from Alex Fekete (Glass), Michael Alfano (Bronze), Mark Henry Doolittle (Wood), Michael Bauermeister (Wood) and Debra Steidel (Mixed Media) among others. Many of the works included will embrace natural phenomena, environmental influences, surreal juxtapositions, and hidden symbolism with the purpose of impacting the viewer’s predispositions of certain mediums and redefining the influence of nature in art. Steidel Contemporary’s Tessa Eastman will feature in the Cadillac-sponsored Emerging Artist section at SOFA Chicago allow us to cultivate a younger collector base and embrace the promotion of young, influential talents. Tessa Eastman’s meticulously hand built cloud bundles and complex crystal formations are at the vanguard of the British contemporary ceramic art scene and in her relatively short career she has been able to impress many with her originality, skill and above all, with a daring new approach to the art form. Steidel Contemporary will also be hosting a series of VIP Artist Talks lead by Debra Steidel (Friday, November 2nd at 2PM), Michael Alfano (Saturday, November 3rd at 2PM), and Monica Wilson (Sunday, November 4th at 2PM). Moreover, Steidel Contemporary will be collaborating with Vincere, Ltd., a high-end residential interior design and architectural design firm, based in Chicago, with projects locally, nationally, and internationally. Vincere will feature Ian Rayer-Smith’s ‘Golgotha’ in their “Designer Vignette” installation at SOFA Chicago as part of the concept of “Living with Art.” Meanwhile, they will join a panel on Friday, November 2nd, from 4 to 5 PM, which will expand on the idea of “Living with Art,” placing contemporary paintings in traditional settings among other trending topics. The talk will be moderated by Andrea Mills, the Editor in Chief of Modern Luxury Interiors magazine.
